Hello and welcome. I’m Valentina Taylor and I am honored to be sitting here with the most talented singer, songwriter and musician all the way from Iceland, Magni. Yes. Now that’s an introduction. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you. You know I feel like I actually already know you because I watched Rock Star Supernova religiously. We agreed that we were not going to talk about the fact that we knew each other. We don’t know each other. Well for 5 minutes we know each other. Okay. How huge was that show for you? You know globally it was pretty big and all that but in my tiny little country, my neck of the woods it’s 300,000 people and I got to be, it sounds pretentious, but it was like Elvis or something. It was just ridiculous. The whole country went insane. So where you a huge fan of Metallica, Motley Crue, Guns and Roses, how? Guns and Roses and Metallica, yes but Motley Crue kind of never made it over to Iceland like we knew Can’t Stop my Heart and of course we know who Tommy is but Jason Usted was kind of the reason I wanted to try this out because he was my idol as a kid. I got to jam with him for a whole night. I played his bass. Unreal. It was like the rest of the show, I just forgot about everything. I was like oh my God. Everyone in the house, you know Supernova Rock Star house seemed to get along pretty well but there were rumors that there was quite a lot of drama. There wasn’t drama. It’s just you know put 15 professional musicians together in a house with a keg and a bunch of white wine and you’re going to get fights. It was just ego. It was just amazing, like a little family and in families you fight and then everything is fine the next morning. Do you keep in touch with anyone from the show? Me and Toby keep in touch the most. I did talk to Stormy the other day and after the show actually I brought a bunch of them over to Iceland basically, well I brought the house band and we had a concert and it sold out twice and it was just the most fun I’ve ever had on stage. It was amazing. That was for your birthday and your homecoming too wasn’t it? Yeah. It was my ego trip of the century. It’s my birthday. Let’s have 14,000 people cram into a place. Now you are going back to Iceland. You are releasing your 8th album with your band. Yes we’ve recorded this summer. Oh. Awesome. So where’s that going to leave your solo career? I’m just, you know, I’m writing for myself as well because we’re our own label and our own manager so we just control everything ourselves so just basically doing what we want to do. So now what? What more can we expect to see from the amazingly talented Ice Man. Well hopefully I’ll just keep making my music and basically I make my music for me so if I’m happy with it I really don’t mind if I don’t sell a million albums. It’s just for me. Well I want to thank you so much for joining us. It’s been an absolute pleasure. We absolutely wish you the best. Pleasure was all mine. We wish you a lot more success and if you’d like to check out Magni go to myspace.com/magnirocks and get every update and piece of information on this man that you can possibly want. That’s a lot. Would you play something for us to send us out? What do you want? How about If I Promised you the World because it’s so beautiful. Okay. |
