You’ve made your way back to the naked news room. I’m Ariella Banks with a few more headlines. Redefining borders was once something left to governments and armies but global warming is doing the very same thing for Switzerland and Italy. The two European countries have long use of Monte Rosa Mountains in the Southern Alps as a separation point however the formations glacier is melting so scientists and military experts are mapping a moveable border. Here is Franco Narducci from the Italian foreign affairs commission to explain. Once upon a time the border she was always related to wars and bloodshed. Just think the Romans and the controversies of the last century. For the border has become more mobile. One part may go a bit more into Switzerland, another into Italy. This could be seen as a dramatic reminder of how climate change is affecting the world in many different and often unpredictable ways.

Next up a new web based tool that many experts say could one day be just as important as Google. It’s known as Wolf from Alpha and works sort of like a search engine but not quite.

Welcome inside entertainment. The red carpet has been rolled out for Cannes; the most important film festival in the world along with the Pixar film Up, studios will be premiering some of what will surely become Oscar bait when they open in wide release later this year. Quinton Tarantino’s World War II flick Inglorious Basterds has just generated tons of buzz and is expected to bring out start Brad Pitt and Mike Myers. Audiences will also see the premier of Heath Ledger’s last film the Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. Cannes runs until May 24th.

In music news, much to the dismay of 20,000 Greek fans, 80’s new wave group DePeche Mode had to cancel a show at the last minute.

We are back in the Naked News newsroom with me Ariella Banks. Here are a few more stories making headlines today. The Japanese government is under fire once again from environmental groups. They’re calling the recent announcement of greenhouse emission cuts appalling. Japan promised to reduce emissions by only 15% over the next 11 years. By comparison the European Union has promised us a 20% decrease over the same time period. Critics are saying that this low goal will not help persuade developing countries to also cut emissions however the Japanese prime minister disagrees. He claims that his cuts are just as strong as the EUs because the Japanese reductions contain no loop holes.

The global language monitor, a US based internet observing firm has announced that web based 2.0 is now officially the English 1 millionth word.

Yes big Brett is back in the news once again saying his surgically repaired shoulder needs several more weeks of rehab before he knows if he’ll play. At this point does anyone really care? Favre says if he decides to come back and that’s a big if, he’ll only play for Minnesota at least that’s the impression Brett is giving the media. The weird part is it seems like he’s the one in control of this whole silly situation. Rumor has it Minnesota head coach Brad Childress is leaving a roster spot open for Favre indefinitely. Some things make you go hmmmmmmmm.

Turning to soccer and the Confederation’s Cup in South Africa with plenty of drama. Italy downed the US 3-1 in their match up. The Americans took a 1-nil lead in the 41st minute but ironically it was the US born Italian striker Josepi Rossi that came off the bench to score a pair of markers to make it 2-1 for the Azuria. Of course it helped that a red card but the Americans down a man early in the match.

And the dream of bringing another NHL team to Canada has been dealt a serious blow. Rim Blackberry boss Jim Bocelli had his plan to buy the bankrupt Phoenix Coyotes and move them north of the border rejected by the Arizona judge.
